St John with St Michael's Christmas activities

Date published: 20 December 2012

Pupils at St John with St Michael Primary School, Shawforth have been enjoying a variety of Christmas activities.

Class 3 and Class 2 have both had their parties with fun, games and lots of food.

Class 2 did a lovely assembly on The Story of Christmas and have been busy making Christingles.

The Early Years Unit have been sending Santa emails, doing lots of glittery Christmas arts and crafts, baking Christmas cakes and in the role play area been busy building a sleigh.

The Christmas dinner was delicious and Santa stopped by. The dinner staff held a raffle with some yummy prizes.

Class 3 have had an Enterprise term and they made and sold hot chocolate and mince pies and made a profit of £22. They also had a Christmas cocktail morning where they made and sold homemade lemonade, orange juice, smoothies and cocktails. They made a profit of £30. This money will go towards their trip to Ribchester after Christmas.

Class 4 held a beautiful Carol Service at Sunnyside, a local rest home for the elderly and they also performed for friends of the school in a special afternoon carol service. They later served mine pies and hot drinks.

The children and staff have worked very hard all year round and we, at St John with St Michael CE Primary School, would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
