Busy years fundraising for Round Table

Date published: 19 December 2012

After a busy years fundraising Rochdale Round Table have ended the year on a high thanks to the generous contributions of local residents on their annual can collection in aide of the Salvation Army and Rochdale Foodbank.

Over the course of two weeks the Round Table members, with the help of Santa Claus, visited the residents of Caldershaw, Bamford, Shawclough, Burnedge and Norden.

Over one tonne of food was collected and a massive £1,200 raised which will be donated to local causes and Chairman Michael Atkinson’s chosen charity for the year; Rochdale Young Carers.

Chairman Michael Atkinson said: “The can collections are a long standing tradition at Round Table and the support from members of the local community has been overwhelming. On behalf of Round Table I would like to thank the generous resident for their donations, they will certainly make a huge difference to those in need this Christmas.”

Over the next year many more events and fund raising activities are planned and the Round Table are looking for more members to get involved so if you’re a Rochdale Man aged between 21 and 40 and interested in making a difference in your local community and having a lot of fun doing it get in touch.
