Ken Davies, MBE, as a representative of The Freemasons of Rochdale, paid a surprise visit to Springhill Hospice last week to present the Chief Executive of the Hospice, Mr Jonathan Parris, with a cheque for £2,771.00 to assist the Hospice in their day-to-day care of terminally ill patients and their families in the local community.
This cheque was part of a national distribution of some £600,000 from the Freemasons Grand Charity to 239 Hospices throughout England and Wales.
Since 1984 the sum donated by The Freemasons Grand Charity to Hospices has totalled £9.9 million.
On a more local basis, the Rochdale Freemasons recently celebrated the distribution in excess of £80,000 over the last three years to more than 40 charitable organisations across Rochdale, Bacup and Todmorden.
