Dame for a laugh

Date published: 06 December 2012

Christopher Dickinson recently returned to studying at Hopwood Hall College and landed himself a major part in the College’s Christmas pantomime which has been running this week at the Curtain Theatre in Rochdale.

After leaving school Christopher studied catering and hospitality for two years at Hopwood Hall College (2001-2003) and has worked in the catering industry since. But the 27 year old, from Rochdale, decided to try something new this year and, having always been passionate about drama, chose to continue his studies in performing arts.

Within the first few weeks on the course Christopher auditioned for the College’s Christmas pantomime, ‘Snow White’, and landed the part of ‘Daisy’, one of the two dames in the show. He was thrilled to have got the part despite stiff competition and commented: “I was chuffed to bits and have thoroughly enjoyed the rehearsals and working as part of a team.”

Christopher is really pleased with his decision to change career and doesn’t regret making the leap from cook to dame, saying: “It’s just brilliant here and great for your confidence. I love coming in and learning new skills and techniques”. He adds: “I’ve made many friends at Hopwood Hall College and would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone who is genuinely interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts industry.”
