Big day for Rochdale at the Olympics
Date published: 09 August 2012
Today’s a big day at the Olympic Games, as two of our local athletes hope to bring home medals for Team GB.
Rochdale-born Stuart Bithell, our hopeful in the men’s 470 sailing, will battle for Gold in their final medal race against Australia at 1.00pm.
Stuart and sailing partner Luke Patience are guaranteed at least a Silver medal, and currently trail the Australian team by just four points.
24-year-old Heywood swimmer Keri-Anne Payne will also compete today in the women’s marathon 10 kilometre race at midday.
Nicola White, our women’s hockey player from Littleborough, will face New Zealand in a fight for the Bronze medal in her final match tomorrow.
