Jinnah Movie from Asian Leader

Date published: 10 August 2004

Rochdale based newspaper Asian Leader has been awarded sole distribution rights in the Northwest for the movie that Christopher Lee called his "best performance in 57 years".

'Jinnah: The Movie' is a film on a magnificent scale telling the story, life, trials and tribulations in the life of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the father of the nation of Pakistan.

Christopher Lee gives a mesmerising performance as Jinnah, a man often misrepresented as the merciless and antagonistic initiator of partition. Yet Lee brings a human side to the character, showing his tenderness towards his beloved sister Fatima (Shireen Shah) and his crisis of conscious over partition; a decision he felt to be an inevitable consequence.

Starring alongside fellow-screen legend Shashi Kapoor, Jinnah revisits his past, giving the audience a never-before-seen insight into the mind of a man who reshaped the globe to make a homeland for the Muslims of India, a goal that earned him the title 'Qaid-e-Azam', The Greatest Leader.

'Jinnah: The Movie' came up against many obstacles in it's fight for recognition, but it is only now, thanks to the help of a number of organisations, that the film has finally been given the audience and reception it deserves.

'Jinnah: The Movie' is not available in the shops and is a must for any enthusiast of the history of Pakistan. The double-disc Special Edition DVD set is a definitive educational aid not only for academic establishments, but also in the home.
