Andy's Man Club to open its doors in Milnrow

Date published: 13 November 2024

A new branch of a peer-to-peer support group aimed at men’s mental health will be launching in Milnrow on Monday 2 December. Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity, offers free support groups across the UK, and now Milnrow will be added to their network of over 120 locations.

The new group will meet at Milnrow Cricket Club and is open to men aged 18 and over, providing a safe space for those experiencing life challenges to connect and share.

The service, run entirely by volunteers, is free to attend and aims to combat the stigma surrounding men’s mental health through open conversation.

Luke, an organiser with Andy’s Man Club Rochdale, highlighted the growing need for additional groups in the area. He said: “Due to the great demand for our two club locations in Rochdale, at Rochdale Football Club and Rochdale Mayfield Rugby Club, we are excited to open a third club in Milnrow."

He went on to share the enthusiasm within the Milnrow community for the group’s arrival, saying, “Milnrow has wanted a club for a few years now, and being able to provide this thanks to the generosity of Milnrow Cricket Club is terrific.

"The venue is in an excellent location, has fantastic public transport links, and has easy parking. The announcement is already getting great feedback from the Milnrow community.”

Andy’s Man Club posted online to reassure potential attendees, saying: “Every man that’s been to our groups has experienced the nerves of attending for the first time, so please know that if you’re nervous, you’re not alone.

"We know the first step through the doors is always the most difficult, so our facilitators are there to make it that little bit easier.”

Upon arrival, attendees will be welcomed, shown to a refreshment station, and guided into the group session.
