Countdown to igo: apply now for 11 – 16 travel pass

A igo public transport travel pass
Young people in Rochdale need to apply now to get their igo travel pass in time for 16 May.
From 16 May, it will be compulsory for secondary school pupils aged 11 – 16 to show their igo card, a new look photo ID travel pass, to travel for the concessionary fare on Greater Manchester’s buses.
Michael Renshaw, Transport for Greater Manchester’s Bus and Rail Director, said: “The igo scheme becomes compulsory on 16 May, and it can take up to 10 working days to supply the card once we’ve received an application.
“Bearing in mind there are four bank holidays between now and 16 May, there isn’t much time left to submit your application. It really is essential that you get it to us in the next few days if you want to receive your igo card in time for the deadline – remember, you won’t be able to claim a concessionary fare without it.
“If you’re aged 11 – 16 and you don’t have your igo pass from 16 May, you could find yourself paying a higher fare for your bus journey, so please do send us your application as soon as you can.
“You can download an application form by visiting www.tfgm.com/igo and clicking ‘Apply’. You can also pick up a form from Travelshops at main bus stations in Greater Manchester.”
For a limited time, the igo pass will also come with a voucher book, offering a range of discounts and offers for local food and entertainment venues, valued at around £60.
Each igo pass costs £5 and will be valid from the date of issue until 31 August after the holder’s 16th birthday.
Children under 11 will also need an igo card if they are buying a 28-day Junior Bus Saver ticket.
