Deeplish Primary School

Date published: 17 October 2010

Children at Deeplish Primary School enjoy P.E. so it was lovely to welcome Paula from Link 4 Life who was doing a taster session with children from Years 5 and 6.

Link 4 Life are holding P.E sessions in Deeplish Community Centre and hope to get children from school interested enough to go along to these sessions.

We had an Indian Dancer, Vinata Godbole, in school on Tuesday.

She demonstrated the art of story telling through dance in assemblies to Key Stages 1 and 2 and then worked with some of the classes. Ms Burrow and Mr Lyons demonstrated traditional Indian clothing.

As part of National Film Week and Key Stage 2 children went to see “The Karate Kid.” And Foundation Stage children watched “Ice Age”. Key Stage 1 children will be going to watch “Toy Story 3”.

It was the third week of the Year 5/6 cycle training on Friday. Children are becoming more competent riders now.

Our junior PCSO’s took their roles very seriously this week. Kitted out in their smart uniforms they accompanied the adult PCSO’s and targeted people who were parking dangerously outside school.

School took part in the ‘Open Doors’ exhibition at the Town Hall on Friday showcasing creativity in Rochdale schools. Our ‘Door’ demonstrated a wide range of artistic skills developing across school.

Attendance Champions this week were Mrs Taylor’s and Mrs Vickers classes. Each class in Key Stage 1 only had one person late during the week so they were all awarded a certificate. Mrs Campbell-Starling’s and Mrs Roberts’ classes went one better when not a single child was late for school. Well done! 100% weekly attendance prizes went to Hamza and Simran. Congratulations.

We would like to wish everybody a good half term break. Keep safe, especially if you are going to a bonfire or firework display.
