Mini tag rugby festival hosted by Rochdale RUFC -pupils took part in a mini tag rugby festival on the first team pitch before the big game against Stockport.

It was great to see the following pupils taking part; Sohail M, Dominic C, Debra C, Fahad N, Brandon C, Jason R, Jordan H, Tommy D, Aaron L, Jake K and Jalessa C. Also it was nice to meet Adam who watches Rochdale RUFC on a regular basis. The guys really enjoyed the day and eventually beat Stockport 8 – 7.

Aaron Howarth deserves a big thank you from Redwood – his support both as community coach and player at Rochdale has been invaluable to us it has made such an impact on our pupils and their rugby skills.

The event was a great success. We have recently received the school / club link award – this will soon be on display with the team shirt and shield recently presented to our school by the club President Wendy Sunderland. Thanks to all at Rochdale RUFC for making us all so welcome – Tommy said ‘the hot dogs were great!’

Redwood Football Team -Redwood’s development football squad took on Oakwood. The weather was lovely and the pitch was in perfect condition. The tempo of the game was electric from the first whistle with Oakwood producing some lovely football. They fielded 3 county players who made a massive difference to the game. However the spirit of all the Redwood players could not be faulted chasing every ball and challenging for everything. When half time came Oakwood had a 5 – 1 lead. After a lengthy team talk the second half commenced much the same as the first with early pressure from Oakwood but persistent defending from a resolute Redwood defence limited the Oakwood machine to only 4 goals.

Redwood pupils take part in the Rochdale key stage 4 Swimming Gala the day was a great success. Redwood School and Newbridge School (from Oldham) were the two schools who took part in the Gala.

Newbridge swimmers really showed their ability and the regular use of their own pool has paid obvious dividends. However, the Redwood swimmers also showed a great deal of ability, some of our pupils won races but all our pupils showed that they are developing their performance and techniques. The events were 25M front crawl, breast stroke and back stroke. We finished the gala with a big relay race with Redwood and Newbridge swimmers completely mixed up into 2 equal ability teams. It was a great competitive race as well as great fun! A massive well done to both schools.

Well done to the whole squad for their fantastic effort, attitude and performance.
There is also another Swimming Gala for Key stage 3 pupils soon.

Thank you to all that attended Gateway SunSports Charity event they raised £2700.
