Pam Paterson is to hold a coffee morning with cake stall and raffle etc in the Parish Room next Saturday, (23 October), from 10am to noon in aid of the Dystonia Society.
Tickets (£1) are available from Pam, who has arranged for Ayumi Horsfall and Carl Makovecz to be present in order to demonstrate head massage and Reiki treatment.
Ayumi is a local remedial massage practitioner who also works for community organisations, while Carl is an internationally renowned Reiki master healer, whose treatment is pactised all over the world.
In the UK alone, an estimated 70,000 people suffer from dystonia, which is a neurological disorder that can affect people of all ages.
The baby son of Pam's God-daughter, who has been on the prayer list at Church for several weeks, was diagnosed with the condition shortly after birth.
Christmas cards selling at 30p for six, to clear old stock, and large notelets will be on sale after the Sunday service from Jackie Carmichael to raise funds for the Chernobyl Children's Project.
The St Andrew's puppet theatre will make its next appearance in Church on October 31 at the 10am Family Eurcharist when we will be keeping All Saints' Day.
The puppets made their first appearance on Back-to-Church weekend, telling the story of the lost sheep followed by a rendition of 'Baa baa we're lambs'. There are, indeed, many different ways to communicate God's unfailing love.
The team behind our ambitious and exciting Wider Welcome scheme, launched on October 1, will meet soon to review progress to date; to plan the next set of fundraising activities; to generate ideas on new initiatives; and to discuss how to keep Wider Welcome to the forefront of everybody's thinking.
Information packs and donation envelopes are still available in Church and more detailed information and photographs can be seen on our website: www.standrewsdearnley.co.uk
Among the highlights of a busy November will be our 7.30pm Sung Eucharist on St Andrew's Day (November 30) at which the celebrant and preacher will be the Rt Rev Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton.
