Councillors to boycott NDC bash
Date published: 13 October 2010
Some Councillors from the borough of Rochdale have chosen not to attend a celebratory event being held on Friday (15 October 2010) to mark the achievements of the New Deal for Communities Partnership in Heywood.
The event, which is believed to be costing between £6000 and £9000, has been described by the Leader of the Labour party, Councillor Colin Lambert, as a “slap in the face.”
Various councillors have echoed those thoughts. Councillor Linda Robinson expressed concern about the event asking why the NDC deserve more of a pat on the back than the hundreds of volunteers in the borough.
Councillor Colin Lambert added: “This is not an attack on what the New Deal for Communities have done, but Friday is a self indulgent extravagance.”
