Pot hole repairs falling behind
Date published: 13 October 2010
Pot holes in the borough’s roads came into question again at a meeting of full council held tonight (Wednesday 13 October 2010).
Councillors raised concerns about particular pot hole problems on roads in their wards including Moss Street, Percy Street and Bingley Road in Kingsway.
Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, Councillor Liz Thirsk, explained that work on these roads will be carried out within the next 14 days.
Councillor David Clayton asked: “What’s the average time between the white road markings going down around the pot holes and the work being carried out?”
Councillor Thirsk explained that there has been an increase in the number of pot holes that need to be repaired and the repair work is falling behind but that she expected the works to return to schedule. From marking the white around the pot holes to the repair taking place should take no more than 20 days.
The cost to repair all of the holes on all of the roads is estimated to be £65m.
