We welcome The Anglo-Sikh Heritage Trail into school this week to perform a piece of drama titled ‘The Maharajah and the Kohinoor’ to all Year 7 pupils. Learners will discover the importance of symbolism in Sikh culture and attend a one hour  performance and a thirty minute workshop.

Tickets for our Abba Tribute Evening for parents and friends of the school which takes place on Friday 12 November are now available and selling fast. The evening features a performance by the professional group, ‘The Right Stuff’ and tickets include a ‘pie and pea’ supper and entry into a 70’s and 80’s music quiz. There will also be prizes for the best fancy dress.

Year 8 Cross-Curricular Week took place this week and centered around the theme of ‘The Commonwealth Games’. Pupils in Year 8 were involved in lessons that linked more than one subject area. Examples include Drama and R.E. lessons, Dance and geography lessons and Music and History lessons. Pupils have completed a range of activities including improvised performances based on the Commonwealth Games Lion logo.

A Theatre visit to see ‘Horrible Science’ at The Palace Theatre, Manchester takes place on Friday 22 of October. Mr. DeCourcey and Ms. Kowalski will be taking members of the Science Club to see the national touring production on Friday evening. We hope the entire group enjoy a great night out.

Please can all Year 11 pupils and parents please ensure that reply forms for next week’s ‘Future First’ event on 21st October are returned to Ms. Ellis in Pupil Reception promptly. We need your replies to ensure your attendance. If you need another letter then please ask at Pupil Reception as soon as possible.

A list of all Arts extra-curricular activities that take place every week at lunchtime or after school was fastened to the latest Arts college Newsletter issued to parents last week. Please keep a copy so that you know what is going on in school every week. Further copies can be downloaded from our school website.

Pantomime auditions are now at a close and a big thank you to all pupils who took part. The cast list will be up on display in the next week and an initial meeting with scripts and rehearsal timetable being issued will take place the first evening after half term. Well done to all the pupils who auditioned; the standard was very impressive. If you missed the auditions but you would still like to be involved then please see Mr. DeCourcey or Mr. Mvula as soon as possible.
