A former Hopwood Hall College student who was involved in its Boxing Academy is representing Great Britain in the Commonwealth Games.
Thomas Stubbs studied Brickwork and Construction at the College and during his time as a student he had great success with his boxing, winning two Senior ABA Boxing titles.
Mr Stubbs has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Commonwealth Games. The College is delighted at the success of one of its star students; Boxing Academy manager Jimmy Barker calls him “a credit to the Boxing Academy”.
The-20-year-old is part of a 12-man GB Boxing Squad which is currently competing in the tournament.
Mr Stubbs has high hopes of winning a medal at the Commonwealth Games; if he does, this will surely cement his selection for the 2012 Olympic Games.
His mum said: “We are all very proud of him and I’m sure his time at Hopwood Hall College’s Boxing Academy will help Tom achieve his dream of winning an Olympic Medal.”
