Redwood School
Thank you for those parents and carers who have supported the new Youth Clubs. The young people have certainly enjoyed establishing new systems and ground rules.
Congratulations to the following pupils who have been elected to the Student Council for 2010 / 11. Jordan, Aaron, Jacob, Maithe, Gary, Jordan B, Mark D, Raymond, Dayle, Rizwana, Sandra, Tonya, Thomas H, Louis P, Karen, Aiden, Kirsty, Dominic and Daniel W.
Key Stage 4 news Mrs. Reddin’s English class have reading the “Boy who Cried Wolf” and re-writing the story themselves. Mrs. Stracy’s class have not only mastered the 12 hour clock but they have now got to grips with the 24 hour clock. Mr. Alcock’s PSD group are busy writing introductions to Pen Pals in America. This is an exciting venture which will lead to close working relationships with schools around the world.
Redwood may have some master craftsmen and women, students have been going to Rathbones for the second year in succession and the partnership between ourselves and them has become even stronger. Students have been enjoying joinery and bricklaying. The facilities at Rathbones give our students a great opportunity to learn new skills that they would otherwise not get the chance to learn.
The group going to Hair and Beauty started this week and with the group starting at Beatlab next week, all of our Vocational Education class will be in full swing.
Key stage 3 news 8/9 Red have been making bread which everyone enjoyed and Farhaz, Elliot and Daniel all went horseriding 8c have planted spring bulbs whilst the Lilac room visited Newlands for a coffee morning. 7 Red had a drive through Hard Castle Cragg to look at colours of the trees and the different aspects of nature in Autumn. Skylight Circus helped 7 Red and Green to spin plates, juggle and swing in a trapeze harness. With Autumn well and truly under way 8 / 9 orange & red collected leaves from the local environment for a cross curricular lesson with PE and art for leaf pictures.

Well done to Brett for Student of the Week. Brett has been working really hard in all sessions but in PHSE his Poster on Drug and Substance awareness was fantastic.
Most Improved Student of the Week was Dominic. Dominic has settled really well into sixth Form. He’s always polite; works well in all sessions and is always smiling. Well done to you both.
