Fatal traffic collision Elizabethan Way, Milnrow

Motorists are being advised to avoid Elizabethan Way in Milnrow after a fatal traffic collision.

Shortly after 6.40am this morning (Monday 11 October 2010), police were called to the junction of Harbour Lane and Elizabethan Way following reports of a collision.

Officers attended and found that Yamaha had collided with a VW Polo.

The rider, a 51-year-old man, was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Elizabeth Way is closed between the roundabout that accesses junction 21 of the M62 and Bridge Street, while emergency services deal with the scene.

Diversions are also in place around Harbour Lane.
