Overturned lorry in Newhey causes traffic havoc

A lorry has overturned on Shaw Road (A663), Newhey, closing it in both directions and causing massive tailbacks.

The road is now closed between the A640 Newhey Road junction and the B6197 Buckstones Road junction, with congestion continuing on the Northbound Lane to A671 Oldham Road.

Officers were called to Milnrow Road at Jubilee Bend at 6.10am and discovered a HGV had gone down the embankment. Police have arrested the driver.

A police spokesperson said: “The driver has been arrested and remains in police custody for questioning.”

A man has been charged after a road traffic collision in Oldham this morning, Friday 8 October 2010. 

Stephen Naylor 27/06/1962 of Crescent Court, Promenade, Blackpool has been charged with driving with excess alcohol and driving without due care and attention and bailed to appear Oldham Magistrates Court on 25 October 2010.
