Review: The Wine Press, Hollingworth Lake
Date published: 07 October 2010
Real Ales
Included Black Sheep Best Bitter, Skipton Bitter (Copper Dragon) - sampled £2.60, Pride of Pendle (Moorhouses) - sampled.
Wine
Quite extensive wine list including no less than 17 wines to be had by the glass. Most wines fell into the £12 - £20 per bottle range. House champagne at £25
Food
Very extensive menu for the area with food served all day. Traditional English dishes plus plenty of cuisine from around the world. Starters at £5 - £6. Main courses between £8 - £18 for the T-bone steak. Special menu also. Today's included frogs legs in white wine, lemon juice and garlic at £4 and red snapper. Food very good and freshly prepared. Eat in bar or restaurant. Choose from a list of 15 coffees to finish your meal.
Decor/Style, etc.
This is a restaurant come pub come wine bar. Quarry tiled floor. Modern decor. Seating comfortable, including sofas as well as the more traditional furniture. Superb views across the lake. Plenty of tables outside. Function room upstairs.
Toilets
Very clean.
Disabled access
Two steps up to main door which could be a problem for wheelchair users, as could access to function room upstairs. Seperate disabled toilet (light bulb not working but changed promptly when brought to their attention.) Small car park, could be a problem when busy. Fairly spacious and uncluttered inside.
Service
Good on the whole, though it seemed a bit overstaffed with nobody really in overall authority at times. Polite and friendly on the whole.
