St Aidan’s Church
Date published: 04 October 2010
After more than two years without our own Vicar, we can now announce the details of our recently appointed Priest in Charge, who will also be Priest in Charge at All Souls Heywood.
He is the Rev Michael Read, who at present is the Priest in Charge at St Luke Lowton in the Liverpool Diocese. He is married to Sharon and they have 2 young children.
Rev. Read is 35 years old and studied Christian Ministry at St Martin's College Lancaster and then Theology at Cranmer Hall Durham gaining BA Hons at both.
During his gap year he lived in a community house within urban-deprived Longsight Manchester working with "Turning Point" in their Learning difficulties homes within the city.
St Luke Lowton has a strong choral tradition as does St Aidan's and we are sure Rev. Read will encourage us through music to enhance our Worship.
We expect to welcome Rev. Read and family to Sudden and Heywood in mid January.
Events in the near future at St Aidan's include:
Sat 16 October - Autumn Craft and Coffee morning 11am till 1pm including a children’s magic show at 11.30am.
Sat 13 November - Last night of the Proms featuring local choirs and orchestra.
In addition to regular service, Church is open on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of the month, between 10am and 4pm for visitors.
Everyone is welcome to come and look at our Grade 2* listed building or join us for Parish Communion every Sunday at 10am.
