What to do if your child is unwell
Please, please telephone school on 01706 647991 before 9.30a.m. to advise us if your child is poorly. You can leave a message on the answer phone at any time of day or night. Our prime consideration is the welfare of our children and we have to account for their whereabouts during school hours. Thank you for your support.
Does your child have an appointment or will they be absent?
If so we have a supply of standard letters available in the dispenser in the main entrance – please complete the necessary form and place in the box in your child’s class. Thank you.
Tea time club
If your child is going to Tea Time Club can you please let them know this before they come to school in the morning? We are having a lot of calls from parents at the end of the school day and are finding it difficult to get the messages to class in time before the end of day bell. We fully understand there will be last minute problems but would ask those parents who do know in advance that their child is going to Tea Time Club to inform their child at the beginning of the day about this.
Tools with a mission
We are raising money to buy equipment for children in Africa. With the money raised we will be making up packs with basic stationery goods such as writing pads, pencils, sharpeners, calculators, pencil crayons to send off to Africa. We will be having a wear what you want day on Friday, 15 October 2010. Children will be asked to donate £1.00.
Unacceptable behaviour
We have been shocked by a number of incidents at the school gates where parents have been abusive to members of staff and each other – this is completely unacceptable. As a last resort we are able to ban parents from the premises, I would hope that I never have to do this. These issues are stemming from lack of parking, which is an issue that cannot be resolved. However, there is plenty of space to park on Paton Street and Whitworth Road, both of which only require a short walk to school. Please be aware that we stand at the school gates voluntarily for the safety of your children.
Walk to school week: 11-15 October 2010
We, as you know, try to encourage children to walk or cycle to school. So next week, beginning on Monday, 11 October, we are organising a Walk to School Week. Each child who wishes to participate will be given a passport which will be stamped when the child has walked to school. Children who manage to walk to school, at least part of the way, each day will be able to choose a small prize. So please park away from school and get walking.
