Deeplish Primary School
Again another busy week at Deeplish Primary School. Several classes were out on trips. Mrs Owens’ class went on a food related trip to Planet Play in Heywood whilst portrait drawing was the subject of Ms Kiely’s, Mrs Vickers’ and Mrs Clayton’s classes when they visited Touchstones Museum. Miss Kiely’s class also visited the CLC where they learned how I.T. could help them make photo frames.
During Monday’s whole school assembly a representative from GMPTE talked to the children about the building of the Rochdale to Manchester tram link and how to make sure everyone stayed safe.
Mrs Saleem spoke to Key Stage 2 on Tuesday afternoon about the Eid Concert and asked who would like to take part. We are all looking forward to this concert in early November.
Healthy eating was the subject of an assembly delivered to the whole school by Miss Regan’s class on Thursday. Also, during this assembly, PCSO Jacqui Hogg announced the winner of the letter writing competition about parking. Well done Khurram! He received a certificate and a £10 gift certificate. His letter will now be going out to all parents telling them about the dangers of parking on the zig-zag lines outside school.
Miss Kiely’s class raised £65 towards the Pakistan flood appeal by hosting a tuck shop with food they had made themselves on Thursday. Well done.
Welcome to our new French language assistant, Mickaël Lussagnet who arrived on Tuesday. He will be working across school and we are all looking forward to his support.
Mrs Ballantyne, Mrs Drake and Mrs Kane hosted another successful coffee morning in aid of the MacMillan Cancer Appeal. As well as tea and coffee, some beautiful cakes and biscuits were for sale which had been made by the ladies. The morning raised a total of £120. Thank you ladies for organising this and thank you all who donated to the cause.
Prospective candidates for the new school council told their year groups why they wanted to be on the council and what they would do to help the school. After a close vote we are pleased to announce that the new council is: Adam and Zahra (Year 2), Humaysah and Bader (Year 3), Jawairya and Umer (Year 4), Zainab and Osama (Year 5) and Halima and Anees (Year 6). Congratulations to you all.
Our year 5/6 cycling tuition began on Friday and will last for four weeks. 20 children turned up with their bikes! This is the most we have ever had. Unfortunately it was raining and they all got soaked but enjoyed it nevertheless.
Attendance champions were Miss Butterworth’s and Miss Kiely’s classes.
Early Birds were Mrs Taylor’s, Miss Butterworth’s, Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s classes.
100% attendance prizes went to Tauseef and Anees. Congratulations.
