Parents Workshop -Many thanks to all those parents and carers who attended the 14 – 19 Foundation Learning workshop. More details of this topic can be found on www.gmcfoundationlearning.com including footage of the work carried out by Redwood pupils. It is hoped that the next workshop will involve a presentation by members of the Rochdale Parents Forum for families with disabled youngsters.
Student Council Elections have taken place with students elected from across all key stages.
Help for Heroes - So far the money raised for the charity appeal is £1542! With more to come from the sale of raffle tickets and wrist bands and car stickers. This is a fantastic achievement and a big “thanks“ to all our pupils, staff and parents and carers for making it such a memorable day. Here’s to next year.
Key Stage 4 Bridging Year class K and 11J were invited to attend mock interviews with Ged Byrne and Katie Davies – Connexions officer. The event was organised by Miss Greenhalgh KS4 careers co-ordinator to help the students prepare for real situations. Thanks to Ged and Katie.
This year sixth form have introduced two new catering initiatives. Two students, on a rota basis, will be working in the kitchen each week with our cook to prepare sixth form lunches. An opportunity to learn and develop new food hygiene and food preparation skills.
On Friday students took part in a mini enterprise producing cups of hot chocolate and sold them in ‘The Street’ at break time. Sixth form Staff and students studying DIY are getting a hands on experience as well as a chance to brighten up the 6th form. Geoff and his wonderful four: Louis, Trang, Daniel and Andrew F have been busy painting the wall blue in room 4, making a lovely mural.
