ACT staff celebrate recognition

Date published: 04 October 2010

Staff at Adult Community Training (ACT) are celebrating after being awarded Investors in People status.

The ACT centre on Newgate officially opened its doors to the people of Rochdale in February and received the award in July; however, they have just received their plaque.

Jane Georgiou who set up ACT said: “I believe it is only because of the hard work and dedication of our staff, many of whom are volunteers and from the Future Jobs Fund, that we were able to achieve this award.

“I am very proud, proud of the staff and to receive something like this after running for such a short time makes me feel like we are doing a good job – you don’t always feel that on a day to day basis but this is something of a bench mark.

“Rochdale Council has done a great job with the Future Jobs Fund and it has helped me enormously because I have been able to get out and do other jobs.”

Speaking about the time ACT has been up and running, Mrs Georgiou said: “It has been a rollercoaster ride but we are still all strapped in safely and I think we will be even busier next year.

“Adult Community Training has been successful this year because of the staff who work here.”
