RBH announce new tenant board members

Date published: 30 September 2010

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) has announced that it has three new tenant board members.

The Board directs company business and has thirteen members comprising of six tenant members, four council members and three independents.

For the first time, RBH carried out a borough wide election which meant that any tenant could stand for election provided they met the necessary criteria. This resulted in a tightly contested campaign with six candidates running for election for three vacant tenant Board member positions.

Vision TwentyOne, a local, independent, professional consultancy, were commissioned to implement and oversee the balloting process. Overall 17.6% of tenants across the borough voted (2,833 ballot papers returned) and the successful candidates are:

  • Louise Brazier
  • Patricia Hull
  • Jane Taylor

Louise Brazier from Littleborough, who is employed as a Detached Youth Worker and has a wealth of experience in working on community projects said: “I am just really thrilled and excited at the prospect of getting involved. I want tenants’ voices to be heard. I would like to thank all the people who voted for me and they can rest assured that I will stand by the ethos outlined in my campaign; ‘No promises just facts’. “

Jane Taylor who works as a Development Officer for Oldham’s Learning Disability Partnership Board is very keen to represent the ‘ordinary tenant’. She said: “As this is the first time that I have been a member of a Board, I think it important to initially get used to how everything works at Board level. My hope is that as I am an ordinary tenant, I will be able to perfectly voice the views of RBH residents and together we will aim to improve access to Social Housing and its services.”

Pat Hull, a treasurer for Thistleyfield tenants and residents association, promises to “endeavour to do her very best for the organisation” during her term. She also added: “I hope to be a champion for the sheltered housing residents; as a former carer for the Red Cross, who is now in receipt of care, I believe I am in a position that allows me to see both sides of the coin, which I hope will prove to be an added asset to the organisation.”
