Parking
This week I have had a letter of complaint and several phone calls because of some parents parking inappropriately. Please park further away and walk up from Paton Street – it would stop most of the problems. Thank you.
Attendance
The winner of the attendance certificate week ending 24 September 2010 was Olive Class with an attendance of 100%. Excellent Olive Class. The overall attendance for the school was 95.6%.
Halloween competition
Buy a weathervane for £1.00 and enter the competition – there will be a prize for each unit. Weathervanes will be on sale from Monday, 4 October in the main corridor each morning. The competition closes on the 21 October and prizes will be awarded in assembly on the 22 October 2010.
Sweets in school
Just a reminder that children are not allowed sweets of any description in school at any time.
Birthday treatsMany children (and their parents) like to bring in a treat for other children in their class to celebrate birthdays. Instead of buying sweets for the children you can buy a book for the classroom. The librarian, Suzanne O’Hara, has a stock of books so that you can select one to buy and donate to the classroom. If you wish to discuss this further please contact me in School.
A big reminder: Start and end of the day
It is important that you are clearly aware that if your child arrives at school without an adult before 8.30 a.m. they must attend Early Start Club. If they have not been collected by 3.30 p.m. they must attend Tea Time Club.
Parents who supply packed lunches for their child
Please do not include fizzy drinks, bars of chocolate or sweets in your child’s packed lunch.
Mobile phones
Children must not bring mobile phones to school.
Lunch menus
Lunch menus are available from the leaflet dispenser in the school entrance area. Please help yourself if you want one.
Unit one parents
I need to remind you that as you wait to collect your child you are responsible for the behaviour and safety of other children. Children must not be allowed to climb on or over the PE equipment in the hall for obvious safety reasons.
Does your child have additional needs? From time to time all of us have the need for extra support. In school we usually know when this is the case for academic work because we are continually assessing the children. We also are aware when children have special educational needs. However, I am aware there may be other things that happen to the children which may need extra care but about which we are not aware. Please contact school if there are times when you think your child needs something extra will we do our very best to organise the support needed.
