Rochdale's Labour Leader welcomes Ed Miliband
Date published: 28 September 2010
The Leader of the Labour Party in Rochdale, Councillor Colin Lambert has welcomed the appointment of Labour’s new leader, Ed Miliband.
Ed beat his brother David to the leadership post and was announced the party’s new leader on Saturday at the party’s conference in Manchester.
Today (Tuesday 28 September 2010) visitors to the conference heard the leader’s first major speech.
The hour long speech saw Ed talk about Labour needing to understand where it went wrong, how the party must win back fiscal credibility, he said the Tories’ deficit plans will damage economic recovery and described David Cameron’s vision as “miserable.”
Councillor Lambert said: “After listening to the Leaders speech this is the man I voted for and the campaign I voted for.
“I believe he can deliver a fairer society and he has the vision to take our country out of the mess the coalition government is tightening us into.
“I welcome his focus on the family and the campaign now is to make him the prime Minister.”
