Bright future for Travel and Tourism student

Date published: 27 September 2010

Travel and Tourism student Chris Harvey, aged 20 from Rochdale has gone onto a successful career in the travel industry.

Mr Harvey attended Hopwood Hall College after completing his studies at Matthew Moss High School. He started on a Level 1 Travel and Tourism course, progressing all the way through to the Level 3 BTEC National in Travel and Tourism.

Mr Harvey struggled with his GCSEs at school, but with hard work he achieved great results in his vocational studies at the College.

He also took part in extra-curricular activities to improve his CV, such as being a Class Rep and acting as a Rep on a college residential trip.

Tutor Tricia Swaby said: “Although he was very shy when he joined our Travel and Tourism course as a 16 year old school leaver, his confidence has grown and he became an outstanding student. Chris is always cheerful and positive and a great team player.”

The former student recently started work as a Children’s Rep with Thomas Cook based in Port Aventura Spain and has done extremely well – even getting praise from grateful parents on Trip Advisor.
