Date published: 21 September 2010
Two men have been arrested after a car was stolen in Castleton.
Just before 10.10pm on last night (Monday 20 September 2010), a man was driving his Nissan Micra on Leander Drive, when he was approached by three men.
One man put his hands on the front of the car to stop the victim driving off and the two other men opened the driver and passenger doors.
They pulled the victim out of the car and drove off.
The man suffered a cut lip, bruising to his face, elbow and back and a broken tooth.
The Nissan Micra was seen by police at around 12.50am on this morning (Tuesday 21 September 2010) and after a short pursuit, the car collided with a stationary Alfa Romeo.
The three men in the Micra ran off but a police helicopter was used to track them.
A boy aged 17 and a man aged 20 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Martin Soutter of Rochdale's Volume Crime Unit said: "I want to appeal to anyone who may have seen the original robbery on Leander Drive to get in touch.
"The victim has been left shaken by what happened so if anyone has any information about this crime or the offenders, then please don't hesitate to call."
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8635 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
