Rochdale brewery competes for award
Date published: 21 September 2010
Rochdale’s Greenmill Brewery is all set to make its mark at this Manchester Food and Drink Festival with its flagship real ale Zenith up for this year’s People’s Pint award.
Breweries from across Greater Manchester will be serving up their perfect pints as part of the Real Ale Festival taking place in Manchester City Centre in October.
Visitors to the event will vote for their favourite pint, with the winner being announced on the final day.
Phil Wild from Greenhill is keeping the pint’s ingredients close to his chest but feels that Greenmill has a good a chance as anyone to win.
He said: “This is a new beer which we have made especially for this competition and a bigger competition we are entering. I can’t tell you what’s in it though – that is top secret.
“We are really looking forward to the competition.”
Aimed at beer connoisseurs and novices alike, the ale festival is all about providing the opportunity to sample a selection of the region’s finest real ales.
Festival Director Siobhan Hanley comments: “The People’s Pint Award is one of the most highly coveted awards in the festival as it is voted for by the public. We are looking forward to seeing a fantastic array of beers from Manchester’s finest breweries across the two day festival.”
