One visitor having mendhi decorations applied
Parents and children at Moorhouse Sure Start Children’s Centre celebrated Eid with a special party yesterday (Wednesday 15 September 2010).
Activities at the centre on Crossley Street in Milnrow included face painting for the children, mendhi hand painting for the adults, and lots of fun craft activities including lantern making.
There was chance for families to find out more about the Muslim festival which follows Ramadan and the opportunity for Muslim families to express how their family celebrates together.
Hearing of the celebrations, Castlemere Community Centre were pleased to donate traditional Asian food. Some parents who attended also contributed food and everyone enjoyed the cultural cuisine.
Shirley Jones, parent empowerment worker joined the celebrations, she said: “Moorhouse Children’s Centre staff would like to thank Castlemere Community Centre and the local parents for their generosity and support in making it such an enjoyable event for all who attended. We had lots of fun and celebrated together with people from lots of different background.”
