NHS staff show their star quality

Two members of hardworking NHS staff have been recognised as part of NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale’s staff award scheme, ‘Going for Gold Stars’.

Healthcare Support Worker, Suzanne Allison, won her award for going the extra mile to help both staff and patients at the Triple H Practice, on Yorkshire Street.

Triple H is a specialist service that provides health and social care to the homeless and transient people living in the borough.

Ms Allison was delighted to be nominated and win the award: “It was a real shock to find out that not only had I been nominated but had actually won – I knew nothing about it. I’ve worked at Triple H for eight years and although it has many challenges, the reward of helping disadvantaged people helps to keep me motivated.”

Corporate Governance Officer Jonathan Mayes, based at Telegraph House on Baillie Street, also won an award because he stood out for the support he gave during the Ofsted inspection of Safeguarding and Looked After Children’s Services.

Mr Mayes supported the Children’s Commissioning Team to prepare for the inspection, collating evidence and working with partners, which involved a lot of additional work within a short timescale.

On winning the award Mr Mayes said: "I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent on this project, in particular working alongside new colleagues, health partners and the local authority. All parties involved worked very hard during the period of inspection and I am pleased to have made a positive contribution and am grateful for this recognition.”
