Tour of Britain Before the summer holidays, all schools in Rochdale were asked to enter a competition to design a flag to help promote The Tour of Britain Cycle Ride. One of our pupils, Lucy Grogan won this competition which means that she has had her flag published for everyone to wave at the start of the race and Lucy and her family have been invited to attend in the VIP box on Saturday 11 September. There will be lots of free activities starting at 8am – 1pm in front of Rochdale Town Hall – your child will have received a leaflet. This is a very big event for Rochdale so your support would be welcome.
Text Messaging Service We are continuing to use our text messaging service. In some cases we will be sending text messages to parents rather than sending letters so it is extremely important that you ensure you keep school up-to-date with any change in mobile phone numbers and that you return your new contact forms as soon as possible.
Youth Club Youth Club for Year 6 children will resume on Monday 13 September – letter to follow.
Swimming Team Training Years 5 & 6 swimming team training will resume on Friday 17 September at 8.30am – letter to follow.
Increase in School Meals Lunches are now £1.75 per day - £8.75 per week. Dinner money should be sent in on a Monday morning in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Thank you.
Music Lessons
Music lessons will start again from next week. Please ensure your child brings their instrument into school. The Music Service has increased the lessons to £2.75 per week – these can be paid either weekly or half-termly which is £16.50 this half term.
Please also pay any outstanding fees as soon as possible. These fees need to be paid in order for children to continue with their lessons. Thank you.
Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ for 0-5yr olds start again next Wednesday 15th September here at St. Edward’s School and every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am. These sessions are really well attended and there are lots of activities for the children to do.
