Labour call on Lib Dems to honour their pledge to save Alkrington Moss school
Date published: 05 June 2006
The Labour Party have challenged the Lib Dems to keep Alkrington Moss school open, after Cllr Irene Cooper was grillled by a local resident at Middleton Township.
The resident asked: "The Liberal Democrat Party stated that they were strongly opposed to the closure of Alkrington Moss School. Now that your party has taken control of the council, are you going to save the school for the long term as you have verbally stated in our action group meetings and on leaflets put out?"
A Labour spokesperson said: "This is the first opportunity for the new Lib Dem regime to put its money where its mouth is. Will they support local residents and their own councillor’s demands, or will they hang Middleton out to dry?"
