Looking good for fitness in Middleton

Date published: 21 June 2006

Fitness is in better shape than ever at Middleton Leisure Centre thanks to £100,000 new investment by  Rochdale Council in gym facilities.

The great new look in the gym at Middleton includes the very latest ‘Life Fitness’ technology with the replacement of all cardio and resistance equipment.

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Peter Evans, officially declared the new gym open this week and said, “This is an excellent facility for the people of Middleton and I’m sure it will be well used – the true benefit from the Council’s  investment will be felt, I’m sure, in the improved health and well-being of local people”.

Fitness Development Manager for the Council’s leisure services, Ben Collier, has led the investment programme. Speaking at the opening he said, “The gym equipment from Life Fitness is second to none and I know it will be a great success. One of our other great strengths is our reputation for being a friendly and informal gym that welcomes all ages and fitness levels.”

Contours offers both membership and ‘pay as you train’ options with a fitness package that costs less than 80p a day – cheaper if you join as a couple. Membership includes free swimming and there is also an optional monthly upgrade to give unlimited access to a range of fitness activities such as aqua aerobics and studio cycling.

Middleton Leisure Centre are organising a special open weekend from 23 to 25 June to show people round the new facilities. It is also open every weekday evening and on Saturday and Sunday. To find out more or to speak to a Contours fitness coordinator ring 0161 643 2894.
