Police in Middleton are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed and seriously assaulted during an aggravated burglary in the early hours of Thursday 25 May 2006.
Shortly after midnight a 54-year-old man was returning to an address on Hopwood Road in Middleton when he was approached from behind by two men who struck him on the head and wrestled him to the floor.
They then went into the house and stole a quantity of cash and the keys to a car that was outside of the address, a silver Sierra Cosworth (registration: H764 DRN). They then drove away from the house in the car.
During the struggle the man was stabbed in the neck. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his neck injury and remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
