Hostage situation resolved by GMP negotiator in Middleton
Date published: 22 September 2006
On Wednesday 20 September 2006, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful imprisonment following an incident at a house in Middleton.
Officers were called to a house on Tennyson Road at about 5.50pm following concern for the welfare of a woman and baby inside. It was reported a man at the address was armed with a knife and a sword.
A GMP negotiator was called to the house and the situation was resolved by 7.30pm.
The woman and baby were not injured.
The man who was arrested has since been given an £80 fixed penalty notice for wasting police time. There was insufficient evidence to support a charge of unlawful imprisonment.
