Body found in the canal - Middleton

Just before 11am today, Sunday 24 September 2006, police were called to a pub on Rochdale Road in Middleton following reports that a man's body had been seen in the canal.
Officers went to the scene where they found the body of a 38-year-old white man, with what appears to be short dark hair.
A post mortem examination to determine the cause of death will be carried out.
Enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and police are appealing to anybody who may have any information about this man to contact them through Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or to call their local police station.
UPDATE 25/09/2006
A post mortem has now been carried out and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. The matter will now be referred to the coroner.
