Date published: 22 January 2007

Middleton’s bus passengers are being give the chance to question the man in charge of the town’s bus station on Friday 26 January.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) is holding its first ‘Meet the Manager’ day in the Travelshop at Middleton Bus Station. Stewart Connell will be available to speak to passengers over tea and biscuits between 10am and 5pm.

Stewart said: “I’m always happy to speak to passengers at the bus station. I hope people who regularly use buses to and from the station will come and discuss their views with me, either on Friday or at some point in the future. I’d like to hear comments about how we can improve Middleton Bus Station for the public.”
GMPTE’s Interim Service Delivery Director, Michael Renshaw, said: “Middleton Bus Station has been very popular since it opened eighteen months ago. However, we’re always looking to improve the services we offer. I hope passengers will use this opportunity to meet Stewart and his colleagues and put forward their suggestions.”

GMPTE owns and manages all of the bus stations in Greater Manchester. The £4.5 million bus station at Middleton is staffed from 7am to 11pm, between Monday and Saturday, and from 11am to 7pm on Sundays.
Last year, Middleton Bus Station won a prestigious design award at the 2006 North West Regional Structural Awards. The station has a large open area, similar in design to a modern airport lounge, as well as extensive glazing and an eye-catching metal roof.

The Travelshop in Middleton Bus Station is open from 8.30am to 4pm between Monday and Saturday. Passengers can buy a range of tickets and pick up free leaflets, maps and timetables. GMPTE’s Travelshop staff are also trained to offer independent advice to help passengers plan their journeys.

Further information about public transport services across Greater Manchester is available by logging onto www.gmpte.com or by calling Traveline on 0870 608 2 608.
