LINK launch will ensure patient care

Date published: 17 December 2008

The divide between health care and patient feedback is set to be erased following the launch of Voices 4 Wellbeing, the new organisation created for Rochdale Borough Local Involvement Network (LINK).

The launch of the initiative was attended by a wide range of organisations, groups and members of the public, while Councillor Dale Mulgrew, cabinet portfolio holder for health, and Chief Executive of NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, Trevor Purt, spoke at the event.

The campaign is supported by the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Robin Parker and the Mayoress, Ann Jones. Cllr Parker praised Voices 4 Wellbeing and said that previous patient forums, such as the Community Health Council, had not always had much impact with regards to change.

LINKs, made up of individuals and community groups, are aimed at finding out people’s likes and dislikes about local services and are also focussed on improving them by negotiation. This process is aimed at giving the community a stronger voice and providing better care.
