Funding boost for children’s accessibility charity Jolly Josh

Date published: 09 January 2025

Following the launch of the Cadent Foundation Community Fund, colleagues at the UK’s largest Gas Distribution Network have chosen to work with Rochdale based charity Jolly Josh as one of its three charity partners to support until December 2025. The charity, which supports children living with complex needs and physical disabilities, will use the funds to continue their services and provide free help for centre users.

Alongside Jolly Josh, North West charities Alfie’s Squad and Claire House will also receive £6,700 each, an equal portion of the £20,000 regional starting pot funded by the Cadent Foundation – with the promise of more to follow through colleague fundraising.

The Community Fund will support 21 charities across the nation, all nominated and voted for by Cadent’s 6,000 employees

Cadent manages the North West’s gas distribution network and its 24/7 year-round gas emergency response service with 1,100 employees located within the North West region.

Sarah Lee Ford, centre manager at Jolly Josh said: “We were overwhelmed to hear the fantastic news that we are receiving a much-needed donation. We are looking forward to working alongside Cadent and its Foundation to be able to continue to offer a lifeline of support to our community.”

Robert Massey, North West technical support manager at Cadent, who nominated Jolly Josh as a Community Fund charity added: “It’s a brilliant charity for anyone in the area to come and feel supported. It’s really important that we get some funds raised to help Jolly Josh continue to support children in the community.”

Ranjit Blythe, managing director of the Cadent Foundation, said: “Earlier this year, employees at Cadent were asked to nominate their favourite charity, a local charity they could support through the year, through fundraising as well as volunteering.

“We wanted our employees to choose local charities that meant something to them and are important to their local community.”
