A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the family of a 27-year-old Heywood man who went missing late last month, leaving behind his wife and two young children.
Nathaniel Favour Enemona was last seen on Sunday 24 November, at around 9am in the Roch Valley area of Heywood. Witnesses reported seeing him sitting on a wall near the river, which was running dangerously fast due to the impact of Storm Bert. Concern for his wellbeing grew after his grey sliders were found abandoned at the scene.
To assist his family during this distressing time, Gemma Louise, a close family friend, set up a GoFundMe campaign.
The initiative aims to alleviate the financial pressures on Nathaniel’s wife, Eunice, who has been unable to return to work while caring for their two daughters and participating in the ongoing search.
“Herself and Nathaniel were both working, and they have two children, so I wanted to do something to help them financially,” Gemma said. “We got up to nearly £300 in two days, so I’m hopeful we can get a higher number to help them out.”
She added: “The police have checked his banks, CCTV, and woodlands, and there’s just no sign of him.”
On the fundraising page, Gemma explained the family’s situation: “Currently, Eunice is unable to return to work and now has worries of financial struggle. Christmas is around the corner, and her daughter's 2nd birthday is in January. I feel this will be a huge help to ease the burden whilst she spends her days searching and taking care of their two little girls. Police are doing all they can to help in finding him. However, bills still need to be paid as they were both working full time.
“I know times are hard for everyone with the cost of living and Christmas around the corner, but any amount will be much appreciated.”
At the time of publication, £295 had been raised for the family.
Greater Manchester Police are continuing their efforts to locate Nathaniel. He is described as a 6ft black man of medium build, with short black hair, a full black beard, and a moustache. He was last seen wearing a black hooded top with white writing on the front, a white t-shirt, light denim ripped jeans, and grey sliders.
The family and local community remain hopeful as the search progresses. Anyone with information about Nathaniel’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log 1049-24112024.
