Anwyl Homes pitched in to help a scout group in Heywood enjoy outdoor adventures with funding towards upgrading their trailer.
1st Heywood (St John’s Hopwood) Scout Group received a share of £5,000 via the homebuilder’s ‘Love From Anwyl’ initiative linked to the Whittle Brook Park development.
Group Scout leader Craig Pullan explained: “This Scout group has over 90 young members and 20 leaders in the Hopwood community. Our aim is to provide challenging and accessible scouting activities to all families at as low a cost as possible.
"We asked Anwyl for £650 to help with upgrading the trailer we use to transport our equipment for outdoor activities. With the funding we bought a new trailer coupling and a motorised jockey wheel plus a battery to power it.
"The installation was done by volunteers and has made it easier for us to transport equipment when we go on camping trips or take part in other outdoor pursuits.”
Other beneficiaries of the Love from Anwyl fund included Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC, Rochdale and Bury Home-Start, St John's Church, Hopwood CP School PTFA and H'all Things Drama (HATD).
Anwyl area sales manager Amy Houlihan said: “Love From Anwyl was born of a desire to recognise the community groups that help make the Heywood area a great place to live.
"As part of our commitment to being a thoughtful homebuilder we awarded grants to a range of projects. Scouting is a great way for young people to meet new friends and develop skills.
"We were happy to be able to help 1st Heywood (St John’s Hopwood) Scout Group and hope that with the upgraded trailer they’ll be able to enjoy lots more outdoor adventures.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to the 120 new homes being built by Anwyl across almost 15 acres of land on Manchester Road East in Heywood.
It’s in addition to almost £5.5 million worth of community contributions Anwyl has already agreed to as part of the planning consent.
This includes over £2.7 million towards the cost of the new link road connecting the new community directly with junction 19 of the M62. Funding has also been allocated to education, transport, highways, green spaces and sports pitches.
