Planned works to disrupt Rochdale town centre tram services will start next week

Date published: 14 October 2024

Commuters using the Rochdale Metrolink line are being advised of upcoming service disruptions as essential maintenance work is set to take place between Saturday 19 October and Thursday 31 October.

During this period, there will be no tram services operating between Rochdale Railway Station and Rochdale Town Centre.

To assist affected passengers, a bus replacement service will be provided, covering the route between the two stops.

These works are part of a broader programme of planned improvement works taking place across the Metrolink network throughout 2024.

Various lines will be affected by these upgrades at different times over the year.

Ian Davies, Interim Network Director for Metrolink at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), explained the importance of the maintenance: “These works are a vital part of ensuring the Metrolink network remains safe and reliable for the thousands of people who use it every day."

He reassured passengers that TfGM is taking steps to minimise disruption, adding: “We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption to passengers, including laying on replacement bus services.

"I would encourage our customers to plan their journeys, leave themselves plenty of time and keep an eye on the Bee Network website, app and social media channels for the latest information and advice.”

Passengers travelling during the affected period are urged to check updates and allow extra time for their journeys.
