Status 4 All receives lottery funding to show people how to grow their own and cook cheap and healthy meals

Langley community group Status 4 All has received funding from the National Lottery for a 12-month project.

The Growing One Community project, in association with the Bowlee Community Organisation, will teach people how to grow their own produce on Status 4 All’s community allotments, as well as showing people how to cook cheap and healthy meals at Bowlee Pavilion.

After six weeks of courses, those who complete the sessions will be given a slow cooker or an air fryer.

Sue Smith, founder of Status 4 All and Middleton councillor, said: “This project is to help support our community through the cost-of-living crisis, and to bring our community together, learn new skills together and share our cooking and growing skills with each other.

“The activities will run alongside our other projects including the Food Pantry, Talk Around the Tea Pot, Nature Warriors, and our women's group and kids’ club.

“It will also link into other services that are out there to support people. All details are available at Bowlee Pavilion, Heywood Old Road, Middleton, M24 4SD.”

Growing One Community will launch on 10 December; times and activities to be announced.
