Future Directions, a social care provider which supports adults in Rochdale, has won an award at the Spirit of Manchester awards ceremony on 5 October.
The 'Spirit of Manchester' programme is a celebration of the work of thousands of voluntary organisations, community groups, charities and social enterprises in Manchester. The shortlisted winners for this award are voted for by their peers on the awards night itself.
Future Directions CIC provide personalised support to people who live in their own home. They also have a number of registered services that provide personal care with and without nursing care. Future Directions support individuals with a learning disability, a mental health support need, autism, an acquired brain injury and physical disabilities.
They have won the ‘Service user involving organisation’ award after coming through a rigorous verification process and a peer voting system.
The award recognises and celebrates all of the work that Future Directions do to support the voices of the people they serve to be heard and to impact on the organisation on all levels.
Individuals supported are employed to recruit staff at all of levels of the organisation, through to the training of staff as part of the induction process as ‘experts by experience’ and to quality check the support that is provided through the ‘Getting It Right Team’.
Future Directions says that it is committed to everybody’s voice being heard. The Confirm and Challenge Group meet to look at what the organisation does well and what changes need to be made. This feedback is provided directly to the Board of Directors and influences the direction of the organisation.
Paula Braynion, managing director at Future Directions CIC said: “We are totally committed to everyone we support having a voice and ensuring that this is heard and acted upon. Our SPICE group are the true heroes and are trail blazers in ensuring that as an organisation ‘Co-production’ is at the heart of everything we do.
Everyone who attended the awards ceremony was absolutely delighted to win this prestigious local award.”
