Oldham, Rochdale & Tameside Organists’ Association (ORTOA), will present their annual Brereton Memorial recital on Saturday 14 October 2023. The fund celebrates the late Gwen and Philip Brereton, past mainstays of ORTOA, and continues to help young organists and other musical causes.
The guest celebrity player will be a rising star, Anthony Gray, an organist, choral director and composer based in Yorkshire. He is Assistant Director of Music and Sub-Organist at Bradford Cathedral, Conductor and Artistic Director of Halifax Choral Society.
As the organ Scholar of Robinson College, Cambridge, he was very active. He since been Musical Director of theatre productions, and his music is performed across the country.
His programme will consist of JS Bach followed by twentieth century British music from Elgar, Bridge, Finzi, Widdicombe, Grayston Ives (b. 1948) and Iain Farrington (b. 1977) on the fine organ at Rochdale Parish Church (St Chad's) on Saturday 14 October 2023 at 3pm. Entry is £8 and £6 for concessions.
