Date published: 22 September 2023

There will be no trams running in Rochdale on Sunday 24 September due to work on the line.

Replacement bus services will be in place between Rochdale town centre and the Freehold stop in Oldham throughout the day.

Tram services will resume in full on Monday 25 September.

Replacement bus services will be in operation on a 12-minute frequency between Rochdale town centre and the Freehold stop in both directions. Replacement bus services will not stop at Oldham Central, however, Oldham King Street is a five-minute walk away.

The first bus from the Freehold stop to Rochdale will be at 6.25am and the last bus will be at 12.01am.

The first bus from Rochdale town centre to the Freehold stop will be at 5.57am and the last bus will be at 11.45pm.

The last service from Rochdale town centre to Victoria in Manchester city centre will leave at 11.57pm.

Transport for Greater Manchester says the work is “essential” and “a continuation of the track improvement works between Rochdale town centre and Freehold.”

It added: “We picked the date carefully to ensure that the works cause the least disruption to your journey as possible.”

There are also further planned improvement works on the Rochdale line on 22 October and 4 and 5 November.
