Heavy rain expected throughout Tuesday and Wednesday

Date published: 18 September 2023

Heavy rain is expected across parts of north west England – including the Rochdale borough – throughout Tuesday and Wednesday (19 and 20 September).

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning in place from 6am Tuesday until 6pm on Wednesday.

It says “50-100 mm of rainfall is likely to accumulate widely, with as much as 150-200 mm in some locations.”

This rainfall – associated with the remnants ex-Hurricane Lee – will be heaviest and most persistent across parts of Wales and northwest England.

Some surface-water and river flooding is possible in these areas.
