The Red Arrows
The famous RAF Red Arrows will flypast over Rochdale this Friday (8 September) as they head from their base in Lincoln to Blackpool.
The distinctive Hawk fast-jets are expected to be over the town at around 4.15pm, passing over Kirkholt and Castleton, as they head over to Blackpool for the Southport Air Show.
The Red Arrows are the Royal Air Force’s aerobatic team and are one of the world’s premier aerobatic display teams.
Often with their trademark Diamond Nine shape, and combination of close formations and precision flying, the Red Arrows have been displaying since 1965.
The famous jets also flew over Rochdale last month, on their way to the Blackpool Air Show, following a request from weapons technician Dave Marshall. Dave, originally of Rochdale, flies in Red 2 of the formation.
